Dear Middle School Parents,

Get your cameras ready, Mom and Dad!  The middle school Student Council is hosting a Winter Ball on Friday, January 9 from 6:00 – 9:00PM in the MICS Gym.  Details below!

Winter Ball – Friday, January 9 (6:00-9:00PM)

  • Location: Dance will be held in the MICS gym.

  • Tickets: Tickets are on sale at lunch at a table in the gym now through Thursday, January 8.  Middle School student council officers will sell the tickets.  They are $10 each; cash or checks made payable to MICS are accepted.  Students will not receive a paper ticket, but their name will be added to the guest list.  If you would like to send in the money for the dance to the school directly, please submit it in a marked enveloped “Winter Ball – Attn: Mary Smith”.

  • Food & Festivities: The Winter Ball will include catered food, music provided by the Incredible DJ Ince, fellowship, and lots of dancing!

  • Volunteers: If you are interested in volunteering at the event, please email [email protected].  We will need assistance with the following:

    • Before the dance: set-up and decorating (2:30PM – 4:30PM)

    • During the dance: student sign-in, food/dessert distribution, and the photo booth (5:30PM – 9:00PM)

    • After the dance: clean up (8:30PM – 9:30PM)

  • Attire: This is a semi-formal event. Students are encouraged to wear white, icy blue, or another color that symbolizes the beauty and chill of a winter evening. Specifics are attached.

    • Ladies: In a nutshell, ladies are asked to wear nothing that is too low, too short, too sheer, or too sharp (as in heels that could damage the gym floor). If the young ladies are concerned regarding their choice of attire, they are encouraged to bring their outfit (or a photo of them wearing the outfit) to Ms. Stallings, Ms. Ince, Ms. Smith, or Ms. Chandler for approval.

    • Gents: Young men are encouraged, but not expected, to wear suit jackets and ties.  Specifics are attached.

Behavior Expectations: Styles of dancing that the administration determine to be inappropriate for a school dance setting will not be permitted, and overt public displays of affection will not be acceptable. Full details are attached.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you!

Mary Blomquist Smith
