Arts Overview
Arts Vision Statement
Our K-12 Arts Program is committed to creating a dynamic and inclusive environment where every student can explore and excel in their creative journey. With a focus on visual art, music, band, chorus, theatre arts, dance, and aerial concepts, we aim to inspire a deep appreciation for the arts and foster skills in innovation, critical thinking, and self-expression. By offering a rich array of artistic opportunities, we encourage students to engage with the world around them, celebrate cultural diversity, and make meaningful contributions to their communities. Our goal is to build both artistic talent and the confidence needed to succeed in all aspects of life.
The Arts in Elementary School
Our K-5 Arts Program envisions a nurturing and joyful environment where young students are encouraged to discover and develop their creative talents. Through engaging experiences in visual art, music, theatre arts, dance, and imaginative play, we inspire curiosity, self-expression, and a love for the arts. We aim to build a strong foundation for artistic growth, while also fostering empathy, collaboration, and an appreciation for diverse cultures. Our program is dedicated to helping every child find their unique voice and confidence, setting the stage for a lifelong journey of creativity and exploration.
The Arts in Middle School
Our Grades 6-8 Arts Program is dedicated to empowering students during this pivotal stage of their creative development. We provide a supportive and challenging environment where students can deepen their skills and explore their artistic identities through visual art, band and chorus, theatre arts, and innovative mediums. Our program encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and self-expression, helping students to connect with their peers, embrace diverse perspectives, and express their unique voices. By fostering a love for the arts and a commitment to excellence, we prepare students to confidently navigate their artistic journey and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
The Arts in High School
Our Grades 9-12 Arts Program envisions a dynamic and rigorous environment where students are empowered to refine their artistic talents and pursue their passions in visual art, music (band and chorus), theatre arts, dance, and emerging creative fields. We strive to cultivate critical thinking, innovation, and personal expression, encouraging students to challenge themselves and explore new artistic horizons. Through collaboration and independent projects, we foster a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and the role of the arts in society. Our program aims to prepare students for advanced studies and careers in the arts, while also equipping them with the confidence and resilience to make meaningful contributions to the world beyond the classroom.
MICS Art Show & Art Student Maker's Market
The Annual MICS Art Show is a vibrant community event that celebrates the artistic talents of our students across all grade levels. Showcasing an impressive array of artwork from elementary, middle, and high school students, this event transforms our school into a stunning art gallery for an entire week. Visitors will experience a diverse collection of creative expressions, including collaborative pieces between Kindergarten, middle and high school students, unique sculptures, and a variety of mediums that highlight the boundless imagination of our young artists.
Throughout the week, students from all levels have the chance to explore and be inspired by the works on display. The event culminates with a special community gathering, where families and friends are invited to tour the gallery and enjoy additional festivities. Alongside the art exhibit, we feature festival booths that are run by our Art Students selling handmade art, crafts, and delicious baked goods. In addition, community visitors enjoy student musical performances, cultural food, and an assortment of offerings from local food trucks, making it a truly memorable and enriching experience for everyone involved.
