MICS is a K-12 school enrolling a total of 1410 students, with 500 students in high school (9-12) program. MICS began in 2010-2011 as a K-7 school, and one grade level has been added sequentially each school year, culminating with the addition of the 12th grade in the 2015-2016 school year. The academic year is 36 weeks long.  There are six 60 minute classes each day. Students complete six courses on a traditional year-long schedule.


MICS serves the educational needs of students living in North Carolina counties surrounding Mt. Holly, NC. The majority of students live in the greater Charlotte area. The student body is 64% White, 23% Black, 5% Multiracial, 5% Hispanic, 2% Asian, and 1% Native American.


MICS offers three academic tracks designed to support academic needs and career interests: College Preparatory, Career Preparatory, and Occupational Course of Study. MICS offers Honors and AP classes to students who demonstrate success in the prerequisites. MICS offers 27 honor classes in the areas of English, Math, Social Studies, Science, Spanish, Art, Theatre, and Music.

The MICS CLASS OF 2017 included 2 National Merit Semifinalists and 2 Commended students. This class is comprised of 99 students. MICS has a 95+% graduation rate. Out of the 99 students that graduated in June 2017, 53% of graduates matriculated to a four-year college and 27% matriculated to a two-year college.

Rank is based on the average final marks in all classes using weighted GPA. For students graduating in 2016-2017, Honors courses receive an additional quality point, and Advancement Placement courses receive two additional quality points.

MICS is a member of the NCHSAA and supports 20 HS athletic teams. MICS supports a variety of clubs and organizations including student government, NHS, FCA, SG, Civil Air Patrol, Leadership club, and produces 2 Musical Theatre shows per year.
